Founded in 2011 by a number of Victorian PhD students, SOBR is a continually expanding, multidisciplinary community that brings together hundreds of research students from dozens of Australian universities and institutions.

Our members study across the many fields associated with brain research, including cellular and molecular neuroscience, psychology and psychiatry, neurogenetics, behavioural neuroscience, computational neuroscience, neuropharmacology and more.

Still entirely student run, SOBR’s key annual initiatives include a Student Symposium, a Professional Development and Networking Dinner, research skills and career based webinars and a monthly newsletter.

These events provide opportunities to engage with current research findings, establish collaborative partnerships and moreover, empower Australian brain research students to develop into world class scientists.
